Suiseki is a Japanese practice involving the enjoyment and display of unique, naturally formed stones as objects of beauty. Another Japanese terms for the use of these highly unusual and naturally formed stones is bonseki: Indoor miniature landscape. I think you will find these naturally formed pots very useful for display of a bonsai style tree or as a base for creating your own bonseki. I have chosen to collect these particular stones because of their distinctive shapes. They were formed as basalt columns following a lava flow, then carved into their present shapes by now extinct waterfalls. I hope that you will find them as interesting and pleasing as I do. The basins are 2-4 inches deep and custom drain hole placement is available. |
